The Palm Beach Shoulder Service at Atlantis Orthopaedics offers a comprehensive service for the treatment of shoulder
conditions, including tendonitis and bursitis, rotator cuff tears, dislocation and instability, arthritis, fractures
and prior failed treatment, including failed surgeries.
Under the direction of Howard D. Routman, D.O., a national and regional authority on shoulder surgery, our specialized
management for shoulder disorders includes non-operative and operative measures. When surgery is planned, our surgical
methods emphasize minimally-invasive arthroscopic techniques.
Our Service will interact with your Physical Therapist, who will play an integral role for both non-operative
and post-operative rehabilitation. Shoulder Therapy prescriptions will be provided and are customized for all patients
with problems along the entire spectrum of shoulder conditions, from the more common to the most complex.
Dr. Routman has lectured locally, regionally and nationally on shoulder topics and has directed and participated in
many didactic and practical courses to train Orthopaedic surgeons in the methods for shoulder diagnosis and the
techniques for non-operative and operative treatment.
Dr. Routman’s current emphasis for surgical treatment is in
minimally-invasive arthroscopic shoulder surgery techniques. In addition, Dr. Routman has been on the leading edge
helping to develop better shoulder replacement devices and therapies, and is considered an expert in this area.
Dr. Routman has a keen interest in sports medicine. He has helped hundreds of professional athletes and individuals that casually
and actively pursue sports activities such as golfing and tennis, successfully treating them to achieve full recovery so they
can return to the sport they love.
